This info came from a Stagner family reunion some 40 years ago. There is no documentation. You may find a clue in here. Here, in brief, what was given: John Marion Stagner was born 25 Sept 1843 in Pike Co., Alabama. He married Malinda Ann Rouse, 1 Jan 1867 in Pike Co., Alabama. This John had a brother, Daniel W.(Wilbur or William) Stagner who married Nancy Parish, prob in Alabama, abt 1865. Daniel died in Wood Co., TX on 7 Aug 1877. He was still in Alabama in 1872. During the Civil War, John Marion fought for the North and his brother Daniel fought for the South. <end of info> In 1995 I had a letter from Sheila Bahner, P.O. Box 1596 Eglin AFB, FL 32542 stating that she had learned from a woman in Pike Co., Alabama, that the Pike Co. Stagners had come from South Carolina. The 1850 census of Pike Co., Alabama, shows Peter Stagner & wife Elizabeth with children: John, born ca.1825; Kizziah born ca.1830; Sarah, born ca.1832; Lydia, born ca.1834; Nancy, born ca.1836; William, born ca.1836; John, born ca.1844; James, born ca.1845. This info came also from Sheila. [the James could be your James Marion. The William could be Daniel W. Your Sarah Emma might be a neice of James Marion] Good luck in your search.
