Dr. George H. Stagner was my husband's grandfather. He practiced medicine at his clinic in Erick, OK in the 1930s. During WWI he ran an army field hospital in France. As a young man after he received his medical training, he came to the Oklahoma Territory and settled in Coyle, OK in Logan County. He was an opthamologist as well as a family doctor. He later received advanced training in surgery as well. He was elected as an independent to the first Oklahoma State Legislature in 1907 for the 1908 term. He was very active in many civic organizations throughout his life. He was born in Illinois, raised in Missouri, and lived most of his adult life in Oklahoma. He had four wives and five children. He died in 1949.
