Bev, I am not sure about Martin Brandon Parish, but I think it might have been in what is now Brunswick County. There are several dates for Wm Stainback being imported.the first is 8/1690 by George Woodlief, then 10/1690 by John Bannister, then in 10/1701 by a third party, then in 1725 as a prisoner to Annapolis.I think the first three may be the same person, being claimed by more than one "master".One point of real confusion is that a Wm Stainback was listed as providing 30,000 pounds of tobacco as a security for a bond in dealing with an estate in 10/1692.I see no way that the William that came over in 1690 could have worked his way out of 7 years of indenture and have accumulated 30,000 pounds of tobacco, which is huge amount in those days.My gut feel is that the first William may have actually come over around 1680 instead of 1690.We will never know for sure.Again my gut is that William and John born around 1660 in England, came over together around 1680 with John going to New Jersey and William staying in Verginia.Only a guess. The first known will of a William Stainback is in 1739.This would be "date correct" to have been the death of the "original" William, assuming he was born around 1660.All of this is postulation and I welcome any corrections.
