Nice to hear from you Larry
I visit your WEB site periodically to see whats new.
So far I have only found John Stalcup (son of William)
in the
1796 deed from his father to Joseph Ming as posted on your WEB site.
The 1810 census
1810 Census Orange co NC Hillsboro district
Jno Stalcup
males
3 under 10,
1 26-44
females
1 under 10
1 26-44
June 1814 Land deed for Reuben Bensen as a witness
The 1820 census
Stalcup, John
State: NC Year: 1820
County: Orange County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule
Township: No Township Listed Page: 352
Database: NC 1820 Federal Census Index
511210/13010/4
5 male under 10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-18, 2 males 16-26, 1 male 26-45
1 female under 10, 3 females 10-16, 1 female 26-45
I did find this entry
Longhunter Vol 23 #3 Summer 2000
Allen Countians on the Tax Rolls 1815
John Staleup*note this is the classic mis-spelling of Stalcup by transcribers ** Elizabeth Foster's family is from Allen county Kentucky she is Samuel's wife (son of John).
I went thru the Tith lists for Washington county Virginia and did find his 1st cousins. I aslo found the death date of Peter Anderson father of Margarete (William's wife).
The Tith lists
show double Peter Anderson Snr and Jnr entries from 1788-1790 and stop in 1791. In 1791 and on ward there is only 1 Peter Anderson, so it would appear that Peter Anderson Snr father of Margarete may have died in 1790.
I believe you are correct it is time to start with the Tenn. records
Sumner County was formed in 1786 from Davidson County which was established before Tennessee became the 16th state in 1796. Smith County, established in 1799 from Sumner County and Indian Lands, is another source.
FYI Allen county Kentucky is directly across the state line from Smith co Tenn.
