I am Ralph Walker, Arlington VA ( marusho@erols.com ). I am not related to any Stalkers BUT I have a diary of a young girl, Elizabeth B. Stalker of Ipswich MA between 1863 and 1864, when she was 9-11 (birthday early August). My wife has transcribed the diary and I'll be happy to e-mail it in RTF or WordPerfect format to anyone interested. I am preparing to sell it to a dealer, Family Album in PA ( rarebooks@pobox.com ) on 4/11/02 in case anyone wants to pursue this in months to come. For now I am curious to know if anyone can positively identify this girl, born August 1853. Here is an excerpt from the diary: I am deprived of the pleasure of going to meeting this beautiful day but I ought to be thankful that my life is spared for yestarday I had been up stairs and swept and I went up to dust and I had some little things set up and they were blown down and I set them up bit I saw that one little card was gone and I looked out of the window and saw it was on the grownd and I was comeing down after it but just then the cow came along and I was trying to scare her away because I thought she would step on it but the furst thing I know I was out of the window ine the air falling at a rapid rate and when I hit the ground I had to catch my breath 3 or 4 times and as soon as I could I screamed Mother and she tried to get me on my feet but I could not stand and she carried me and put me on the bed she said I looked as pale as a gost and I came so fast and heavey that I tore my dress and burst the loop to my scurt and there is great hole in the grownd where I hit I hurt my back and side very bad and spraint my rist and it makes me lame so I could not go out but how greatful I ought to be that it did not break bones or Even kill me Notify Administrator about this message?
