Hooray for census info- just found Marshall Hawley and family on 1900 census in Brownville, Jefferson County, NYS.

If anyone recognizes these names, please write to me.

I have no idea what happened to Marshall's first wife Emma Etta Stalker or their children listed on this census. Did they have children other than these six (living)? Did Emma stay in the U.S. with these children, or did she pass away and Marshall returned to Canada? Did all of the children live with him when he re-married?

When he re-married in 1909 at Tamworth he was listed as a widower but I have seen instances where this was not so.

In the 1900 census Marshall is age 31 years, wife Emma is 29; she and Marshall have had 7 children, these six are living:

Lavina E. Hawley born January 1889
Jane M. Hawley born April 1890
Martha A. Hawley born March 1894
Mary E. Hawley born April 1896
Cora P. Hawley born September 1898
Andrew P. Hawley born February 1900

All children were born in Canada except son Andrew born in NYS, most likely at Brownville in Jefferson County. Marshall and family emigrated to the U.S, in 1899.

In same household is another brother for Marshall Hawley that I did not know he had- Manson or Ranson age 17 years born February 1883 in Canada.

The last child I had recorded in family of Marshall's parents Peter P. Hawley and Elizabeth nee Fox was daughter Jane born 1880. Were there any other children born after 1881 census besides Manson or Ranson Hawley?

I have never found a date of death for mother Elizabeth Fox Hawley, my 2X great grandmother. Peter Perry Hawley re-married in 1896 to a woman almost 40 years younger than he was....and I had assumed his wife Elizabeth had died by that date. Perhaps she was still alive and she and Peter had separated?

Anyone with info, please write.

Thanks from Nora
