The Stahlmans/Stallmans in Pennsylvania have a common ancestor in John Stahlman, 1758-1823, a revolutionary war veteran. He had eleven children (six sons, five daughters) and owned a mill, etc. near what is now Hegins, PA in Schuylkill County.Five of the sons migrated to Clarion County. The eldest son, Solomon, moved to Huntington and Fulton Co. in PA.Solomon's branch seems to spell the name Stallman.Other early Stahlmans I have heard of include Melchior, immigrated 1741; Jacob, immigrated 1751 (I think the father of John); and William, in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. The WV Stahlmans have 1750-ish birthdates also, but I don't have a link for them.
