I have been ignoring our geneology since my computer crashed a couple of years ago, but got it going again! Here are some notes we have. We are looking for the connection between Johanes (John) Stahlman and Melchior and Jacob. He could be nephew of one of them or son or ? We are fron Johns son Gabriels family. Will supply any other info you need on that line. We have NO william listed anywhere.?

Jacob entered the United States on Oct 16, 1751 on the ship Duke of Wirtemberg, Montpelier Capain, which sailed from Rotterdam (or Heidelburg, Barvaria-southern part of Germany). List from Cowes-406 passengers. Jacob stahlmann page 268 Pennsylvania Archives

From Audley Stahlmans remembering:
Originated from Barvaria Germany in 1660 or 1760. Said they owned a whole county (the land) and they were really big lawyers and everything.

From Robert A Stahlman
In 1751 a ship landed at Philadelphia (I assume) with 2 men on the ship list of the Duke of Wertenburg. Melchoir and Jacob Stahlmann. Notice the 2 Ns. These two men took the Oath of Allegiance to the British Crown. The ship had sailed from Rotterdam and trhe Stahlmanns seemed to be connected to Heidelburg, which is I believe part of old Barvaria. We believe Jacob was our ancestor but it has not been definately estabolished
