Uncle info came from the Clarion Public Library page 145-146, PA Archives probably;
page 451 supposedly states that Melchior Stahlman was the Uncle of Jacob Stahlman
Jacob entered the United States on Oct 16, 1751 on the ship Duke of Wirtemberg, Montpelier Capain, which sailed from Rotterdam (or Heidelburg, Barvaria-southern part of Germany). List from Cowes-406 passengers. Jacob stahlmann page 268 Pennsylvania Archives
(this one apparently does not mention 2 Stahlmanns)
From Robert A Stahlman
In 1751 a ship landed at Philadelphia (I assume) with 2 men on the ship list of the Duke of Wirtemburg. Melchoir and Jacob Stahlmann. Notice the 2 Ns. These two men took the Oath of Allegiance to the British Crown. The ship had sailed from Rotterdam and the Stahlmanns seemed to be connected to Heidelburg, which is I believe part of old Barvaria. We believe Jacob was our ancestor but it has not been definately established.
found under Jacob Stahlman page 268 PA Archives
Perhaps one man was your Willaim??
John is believed to be son of Jacob.
The question is---Did JAcob and Melchior come togetther on same ship or did Melchior come earlier (why the reference to the 1741 Ship Marlboro PA archives page 145-146) unless there was a stahlman on it?
As to the S in Solomans name-I may have made a typo as I don't at this time find it in my papers.
German spelling Johanees and Nelena M (Elenor M Crorey) Stahlmann, with 2 n's but John dropped the one n.info taken from the tombstone, family bible, will of John Stahlman and PA archives 5th series, Vol VII page 205-206
I live in Oregon in summer and winter in Arizona but email address good year round
