I'm sorry this is very vague. But the information that was given to me about the "original" Stambaugh's is that there were 4 brothers that came from Germany and were Hessian. Possibly a soldier reference. Anyway, the story goes that when then came over one stayed in Pennsylvania, one went to Indiana, one went to Illinois and one went to Ohio. Now either the Indian or the Illinois brother went back to Germany. I am related to the Ohio brother and never new which of the other three went back. Now I have it narrowed down to the Illinois or the Indiana. I hope this helps some.
