Dear Peggy: I will try to type in remaining deeds so it will help others-I think the land mentioned is same in all deeds and remained in family until 1851 when it went to Edington family. Philip Stanback had a son Benjamin Stanback who died about same time as Philip & could have been named after Benjamin Whiteneck. There are blanks where the spelling is difficult to read & deed keeps repeating same legal terms.
DEED BOOK 5 PAGE 382 JUNE 14 1796 Botetourt Co.VA (now Roanoke County).
This Indenture made the 14th day of June one thousand seven hundred and ninety six between Benjamin Whiteneck and Martha his wife of the County of Botetourt and state of Virginia of the one part and Philip Stanback of the County & State aforesaid of the other Witness that this said Benjamin Whiteneck and Martha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds good and lawfull money of Virginia ___paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained __by these present do grant bargain and sell unto ___Philip Stanback his heirs ad__or ___one certain tract _parcel of land containing one hundred and twenty five acres being the same more or less being part of the total where the said Whiteneck now dwells on and bounded as follows __Beginning at a __corner to said tract hense south eighty four east three hundred __poles to a corner marked in the old line and with the same north forty west eighty five poles to a corner of the old tract and with the lines of the same north eighty six west two hundred and fifty eight poles to a corner of the old tract these north fifty west forty poles to a corner of the old tract __south forty two west one hundred and six poles to the first section to have and to hold yhis said tract or parcel of land as above and all its appenters_to this said Philip Stanback his heirs execuctors admin_stractors or a__foresaid and the said Benjamin Whiteneck and Martha his wife,themselves __heirs executors administrators or a_ do warrant __Defend to this said Philip Stanback His __ __ __administrators do __forever this said land _from every claim or claims of all persons or persons whatever In Witness __ __ __Benjamin Whiteneck & Martha his wife hereunto set their hand & seals the day & year first above within signed sealed delivered in the presence of us BENJAMIN WHITENECK seal

This Indenture of Bargain and Sell was acknowledged in Court by the within mentioned Benjamin Whiteneck & Martha his wife__ __ __ __as the Law directs &therefore ordered to be recorded
