DEED BOOK 15 PAGE 280 July 26 1822 Botetourt County VA
This Indenture made this 26 day of July eighteen hundred twenty two between David Stanback of the County of Botetourt and state Virginia of the one part and Jesse Standback of the County of Prebble and state of Ohio of the other part.Witnesseth that the said Jesse Standback for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof the said Jesse Standback doth hereby acknowledge,hath granted bargained and sold unto said David Standback his interest consisting of one seventh part of certain tract of land formerly the property of John Standback dec? containing fifty nine acres be the same more or less,lying & being in the County of Botetourt on the South waters of Roanoke river been a tract of land conveyed to Michael Standback by Philip Stanback in June one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven & bound as follows beginning at a white oak in the division line __Benjamin Whiteneck and Philip Stanback thense N5 1/2 E 63_to two white oaks saplings on the outline of the original survey with the lines of the same N84 W76 poles to the corner two white__ in a root thense N50 W40 poles to a white oak and chestnut __course thence S42 degrees west 106 poles to the old course __the aforesaid division line S 84 E 173 poles to the beginning __and to hold the said land and __with all and __singular the appentenances these unto belonging unto the said David Stanback his heirs ___forever and the said Jesse Standback doth__covenant with the said David Stanback that he will warrant__the said land & premises together together with all & singular the appentenances thereunto belonging unto the said David Stanback heirs & assigns forever free from the claim or claims of all others the said Jesse Stanback his heirs___will forever warrant and defend the title of the above mentioned tract of land__In W__Whereof the said Jesse Standback hath hereunto set his hand __his seal the day & year above written the words __lined on the first page between the 23_ & 24__line thence S42 W __poles to the old corner was done before signed.
Botetourt County,to wit, Jesse Stanback__
W_Henry Snider & Elijah McClanahan magistrates in __do hereby certify that Jesse Standback personally appeared in our said county on the 1st day of August 1822 and duly acknowledged the ___and foregoing indenture before us to certify the said acknowledgement to the clerk of the county court of Botetourt in order that the said conveyance may be recorded given under our hands & seals this 1st day of August 1822.
