Does anyone have any idea why the names Stambaugh, Stumbaugh, Stumbaugh, etc all are derived from Stambach and even Stampach? Has anyone done any research as to why the names where changed? I find this very interesting as many other names have not changed.

PS Does anyone have a Orley Oliver Stumbaugh in their familly tree? He is my grandfather, born in the late 1800's I think that his fathers name was Oliver Stumbaugh... I also know that he was married and had childred before he married my grandmother.
