I just learned of my husband's Stumbaugh connection so I have no clue about the origin of the name. I was wondering where your Stumbaughs are from, because it looks like my husband's are spelled the same as yours, with a "u". He has an Emma Stumbaugh, born in Indiana, who married Albert Smith in 1888 in Cass County Indiana.
