I am researching my husband (and children's) Stam family tree. We recently attended the Stam Family Reunion in Watseka, IL. We have traced the line back to William Stam (d. 1844) and Lydia Gentzel.

They had 6 children the oldest of whom was Henry E. Stam (b. 8/22/1835 in Centre County, PA). He married Julia Harter in 1856.

They had 10 children, 3 of whom died in infancy. The others are: John W. Stam (b. 1855 in PA), William, Leah, Tirzah, Henry H., Alpheus, and Minnie.

John W. Stam married Minnie J. Markley in the 1880's. They had 8 children: Anna, Viola, Henry, Jesse W., John, Lucy, Beulah (who was married to a Hall of Fame baseball player), and Hettie Dale.

Jesse W. Stam (b. 7/1/1888 in Elsie, NE; d. 9/8/1956) married Mable Martin in 1919. They had 8 children, one of whom is my father-in-law.

I would love to hear from anyone with information on our line of the Stams, especially anyone who can trace the line farther back from William. Thank you.

Julie
