I am not sure if we are indeed of the same Stamm (my family spells with 2 m's) family. My family are Stamm's that resided in Northumberland Co., PA. Starting with a Johann Adam Stamm m. to a Rachel Flossmeyer I have the Stam/Stamm family history of PA as recorded in the Counties Biography if you are interested in seeing any connection. Perhaps the family you know might be able to bridge some gaps.
I do not know why some of the family removed to Iowa but
One of the children George W. STamm was a 1st Lt in the Civil War. Co K 3d Iowa Calvary Balkesburgh, Wapillo Co. Iowa
The family owns his Civil War diary. It was salvaged by my uncle when the Stamm family was clearing out the attic and was going to pitch it out.
