Hi Fredric,
I have been searching 20 years for the parents of David Stamm who was b. 19 Jul 1802, reportedly in Annville Twp, Dauphin Co (now Lebanon). He married Elizabeth Long (probably in Centre Co.)b. 23 Feb 1803. They are buried in Loganton (Sugar Valley), Clinton Co., PA. I finally found a minister's record of a burial of a David Stam 12 Feb 1840 in Sugar Valley, age 70.4.5 and a Susanna Stamm 14 Mar 1839 age 62.4.26. Using my date calculator, David would have been born 7 Oct 1769 by his burial date, so actual birthdate would have been a few days earlier. Susanna would have been born a few days before 19 Oct 1776. I long tried to fit my David Stamm b. 1802 into the Berks Co. Stamms, but I suspect that the David and Susanna buried in Sugar Valley are his parents. There are no stones - I've been in every cemetery in Sugar Valley. I began to wonder whether this David Stamm who m. Susanna might be from Lanc. Co. when I found a will of Martin Meyer of Donegal Twp., Lancaster Co., probated 28 Aug 1809 which mentions dau Susanna wife of David Stamm. I found a David Stom in the 1800 census for Annville Twp., Dauphin Co., but not in the 1810 census. I think it was between 1800 and 1810 that the Stamms starting showing up in Centre Co. (most of them tie back to the Berks Co. Stamms). There are 2 children buried in Annville's Oldest Burial Place: Samuel b. 13 Mar 1800 d. 21 Mar 1807 and Margreda b. 11 Apr 1808 d. 6 Dec 1808. These would be the right age to be siblings of my David Stamm b. 1802. So I suspect David and Susanna left Annville Twp. between 1808 and 1810. I would love to be able to prove this. Can you tell me anything else about this family that might help me make the connections?Joyce
