JOHN M. STANBRO DEAD
Funeral at Stanton U.B. Church Tuesday Morning
John M. Stanbro, 89, resident of Ottawa and Franklin county for 48 years, died early yesterday at the home, 717 South Cherry.He had been ill two weeks.
Mr. Stanbro was born in Hamilton county, Ind., December 1, 1849, son of James and Mary (Goodrick) Stanbro.He was married to Elizabeth Marcellus in Nov 1881, who died in March 1901.On November 10, 1901 he was united in marriage with Myrtle Buchanan in Miami county, Kansas.The widow, two daughters Mrs. W. H. Savidge, Paola and Mrs. L. P. Gardner, of the home; step-children, B. E. Buchanan, Cisco, Utah; A. O. Buchanan, Colorado Springs; Mrs. Fred E. Miller, Rantoul and Mrs. Earl Ragland, Palisade, Colo.; a brother, William Stanbro, Paola and five grandchildren survive.
Mr. Stanbro was a carpenter who lived for 25 years in Ottawa, and 13 years on a farm in the eastern part of Franklin county.
The funeral is to be Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the United Brethren church at Stanton, where Mr. Stanbro was a member.Rev. L. A. Stone of Peoria U. B. church is to officiate, and interment will be in Stanton cemetery, three miles east of Rantoul.The casket is to be open tonight for friends from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home.
NOTE: Rantoul is a small community in southeast Franklin County, Kansas; Stanton is just across the border in Miami County.Paola is the county seat of Miami County.
John M. Stanbro was the father of my step-grandmother, Mary Bessie Stanbro.
