John F. Standifer b. Dec. 23, 1830 (s/o William Standifer b. 1788 and Mary Unk. b.1807 Ky.) d. Aug. 5, 1887 in Pound, Wise Co., Va. John md. Feb. 6, 1851 in Lee, now Wise Co., Va to Mary "Polly" Boggs b. Aug. 18, 1832 in Lee Co., Va. (d/o John "Fez" Boggs b. Oct. 4, 1806 Lee Co., Va. and Kessiah Miller b. 1806-1807 Ky.) d. Oct. 17, 1915 in Roberson Dist., Pound, Wise Co., Va.
John appears w/ his father, William STANIFER, and mother in Hancock Co., Tn. in 1850 census, he is head of HH in 1860, 1870 & 1880 Wise Co., Va. census. The surname was spelled Stanifer until after his death when it began to take on various spellings.
I don't have further info on William b. 1788, he's been my brickwall for about 10 years now. It is thru William's youngest son, Reuben, that I found proof that our ancestor, John, was Williams son. Have a good deal of info on John's descendants. Always looking for cousins.
