Joan: Thanks for the quick reply! I have looked at the will of William P. Standefer on the web, but didn't recognize any of the surnames in it and none of the surnames you mention ring a bell immediately either. I'll have to look through my records and see if anything comes up. Unfortunately most of the original documentation is with my mother in TX and I am living in NJ, so my hands are somewhat tied. We have three of these deeds: two in the name of Thomas C. Greenwood (my family) and one in the name of William P. Standefer and all are framed alike, all inherited from Greenwood's great-grandaughter who was my grandmother's aunt. All are very rippled and very fragile. The oldest is from 1824. I am beginning to wonder if the only connection between them is that T.C. Greenwood possibly purchased the property from Standefer's eatate after he died and the family gave him the original deed. Did people do that? Who knows. I'll let you know if I come up with anything. Thanks! Anne Elise Matthews
