Have you visited Carol Yarbrough's website? Covers many variations of the spelling of the surname. Type in just Hinds and up will come several items, a few will pertain to IL, but most are Hinds Co, MS.
http://www.carolyar.com

Hinds Co, MS 1850 census -- Quitera age 3 female b MS.
Parents are William and Frances Standifer, several members of this family have unusaul given names.

Hinds Co, MS marriages:
Q.U. Standifer m George E. Allen 4 Nov 1869 (includes source FHL film number)

A second listing does not give source, and may be incorrect:
Dreanah Standefer m George E. Allen 4 Nov 1869.

Hinds Co, MS - Palestine Cemetery:
Cecil Standifer b 1850, and wife Mary -- Maybe he is the witness for marriage listed as C. Standifer.

William and Frances also buried in this cemetery.

Click on Descendants of John and Margaret Skelton Standiford, and then do a search for Hinds. That will take you down to your William and from there you can see who his parents are and how it goes back up the tree to John and Margaret. Otherwise it can be rather overwhelming (^_^)

I have a double connection to John and Margaret through their son James. Among his children he had sons Luke and William, their daughter and son -- Elizabeth and Isaac --married, yup first cousins. (^_^)

Your William descends from Jesse, Israel then James and "cousin" that's where we have a common ancestor.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
