Hi Bob,

You may have seen my message regarding Standings in Hampshire. I have just found out that Harriet Maria Standing's father was George Standing (my gggg grandfather) and he was a Labourer (as given on her marriage certificate).

I looked on the 1881 census and there is a George Standing of same occupation, born in about 1824 in Pulborough, Sussex who has other children born in Portsmouth. If this is correct then Harriet Maria's mother was also Harriet born in Rackham, Sussex in about 1825.

I realise this is a long shot, but wondered whether you have any record of a George Standing born around this time ?

Any help would be much appreciated !

Helen Bishop
