Greetings to you from Canada.I am wondering if you could help me!My mother was a Standing. Her father,George Standing, immigrated to Canada, the Alberta area, around 1908.We believe his father to be George Charles Standing from in or around London. My grandfather was born in Capetown,
South Africa, August 25, 1882.Mothers name unknown.Baptised in the Parish of St. George in Capetown 21 Feb.,1883.It is believed that brother Ernest was also born there. It is my understanding parents were visiting relatives in South Africa when he was born.If it helps any they lived at #21 Long Street in Capetown at he time of his baptism.
Does any of this sound familar or have any meaning to you?Am in search of any information I can find, as there are no relatives , in Canada, still living, that can provide anything.
It is also believed that George"s mother died when he was 11, father remarried, had three maybe more daughters. They are May, Edith and Vera.Do believe father was either a butcher or a taylor.Hoping to hear from you,
Marilyn
