Hi Daniel,
Sorry I don't think there's a strong conection. However, in the various Standings I have on a tree there are two possible fits for yours.
1. James bap. 24 Jan 1790, son of Dionisius & Miriah (nee Richardson?)
2. his uncle, James (bap.6 April 1766)who was the brother of Sarah Standing who died in 1841 at Brightonleaving a will and mentioning several of the family. He had a daughter Mary and was alive in 1841. I believe this James was the son of Richard Standing (1732-1811)& Jane Matthews who married at Henfield on 7 Jun 1763.
If eitheridentification is correct, then Richard's father parents were Dionysius Standing (1696-1775)(of Cuckfield) and Ann Budd (1705-87)who married at Shermanbury on 7 Nov 1727. They are the common ncenstors!I have materials on the Budds and their affinals which go back another century.
