Veronica M. Standish, 93, of Versailles, died peacefully at home as she wished on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008. She was born June 11, 1914, in Webster to the late Andrew and Mary Lehen Petrus and also was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Thomas N. Standish, who died Aug. 26, 1990; brother Andy Petrus and sister Elizabeth Kovacik. Mrs. Standish was a Benedictine Oblate; a member of St. Martin de Porres Parish, McKeesport, and a former member of its Resurrection Choir and Christian Mothers, and a member of St. Anne's Auxiliary at Divine Redeemer and AARP Chapter 2911, Versailles. Mother of Barbara Kovacevic (the late Stanko), of Squirrel Hill; Mary Susan Standish Fay (Michel), of St. Fortunat, France; Veronica Gregor Euashka (Donald), of Las Vegas, Nev.; Andrea "Andie" Standish Standefer (Doug), of Houston, Texas, and Frances "Stevie" Standish, of Versailles. Grandmother of Jessica Standefer, of Chicago. Sister of Ann Hudak (Thomas), of Donora; Margaret Alexovic (Edward), of Whiting, Ind., and Pauline Staryarsky (Joseph), of Hunker. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the DANIEL F. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Martin de Porres Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Vincent Oblate Program, 300 Frasier Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650-2690 or St. Emma Monastery, 1001 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601-1494.
