Great to hear from you. Henry Thomas Colbert is Lucy's brother. He was born 5-1-1863 in Decatur Co., TN. The father's name was Thomas Aussie Colbert b.1840-1863( per family bible record). Sarah Jane Newman was his mother. We believe her father was Adam Newman from VA. She was born 1840 and died 1920 per her headstone at Spring Hill Cemetery in Henderson Co., TN. She remarried sometime after 1880 to a William Green Perkins of the 13th district of Henderson Co., TN.Family legend has it that Thomas Aussie was shot and killed by his brother-in- law, who was also his Civil War Company leader.Thomas had requested to return home to see his newborn son and the leave was denied. He deserted and went home to see his new son.The story goes that he was sitting on the front porch holding his new son and saw his company riding towards the house. He gave the baby to Sarah Jane and went to hide in a "holler" down behind their house in the woods. They state Sarah Jane told her brother exactly where Thomas Aussie hid. They went to the place and killed him as a deserter.Henry Thomas also had 12 children with his wife Laura Annabelle Shands from Hardin Co., TN. They lived their entire lives in Saltillo, Hardin Co., TN. I have alot more info. Write soon!!!
