Hi there,
I'm looking for Nelson (or William) Stannard - he appears to have used both names, born about 1799, Norfolk, England. I haven't been able to find any record of when and where he died yet.
He married Jane Pritchard in London in 1838, and they had a son, William Nelson Stannard in 1839.
In the 1841 Census, they appear as Nelson & Jane Slannard..., with son William(11-12).
In the 1851 Census, they appear as William & Jane Stannard, with son William, and what appears to be a son from a previous marriage called Robert Stannard (born in Norfolk in about 1833).
His younger son, William Nelson married Catherine Hartill in 1859, they had a couple of children in London (Anne Adelaide, William Benjamin and Catharine) after which they emigrated to Victoria, Australia betweeen 1864 and 1870, there they had four more children (Robert James, Thomas Matthew, Joseph Nelson and Edward Albert).
I'm doing pretty well with the family tree post Nelson Stannard, although I'd love to hear from anyone researching the descendants of eith William Nelson Stannard, b abt 1839 or Robert Stannard, b abt 1833.
What I really need help with, is if anyone has come accross William Nelson Stannard born in Norfolk in about 1799, going by either of these names, could they please let me know... Otherwise I need to try to dig through EVERY parish register in Norfolk to try and find him!!!
