Liz,
yes, we are definitely related with our common ancester being William C. Stannard, father of Abner and Jane.

My father grew up in Oshkosh. I've visited many of the cemeteries and the gravesites in them. I was in Wisconsin last summer taking photos and checking records. Jane Stannard, Abner's younger sister, married Washington Manuel who was one of the founders of the Allenville Church in Winnebago Co. She and Washington and some of their family are buried in the cemetery next to the church. It was begun as a Free Will Baptist Church.

I would definitely like to keep in touch.

Your mother must be Joyce, third child of Clayton, since the other daughters are deceased - Martha, Shirley and Joan.

The only Clarence Stannard I have in my database is Clarence E. who was born 20 June 1901 Winnebago Co. Wis., son of Willard H. Stannard and Celia Close. Willard and Harris "Harry" were brothers; this would confirm what your mother told you that Clarence and Clayton were first cousins with a common grandfather in Abner Stannard.
