William Gotcher Stanphill (Uncle Billy)was my great-great-grandfather - my great grandfather was his oldest son, Daniel Pumphry Stanphill. WG's first wife was Elizabeth Malloy - both Elizabeth and WG were born in Tennessee. Her birthdate was around 1814. I don't have my notes with me at the moment, but I think the Malloy family was one of several families that migrated from the Carolina's to TN, and then to Alabama more or less together. As far as I know, she was not Native American. Uncle Billy fathered his last child, with Nancy Swain, at the age of 62. He died of pneumonia on Dec. 3, 1901, near Red Bay.
