That barely scratched the surface on complicated! Some of these Southern cousin intermarriages make you wonder why we don't all have 3 brown eyes and 2 blue. I believe Vincent Stanphill who settled 1818 in Franklin co., AL to be a brother of my David Stanfield who settled in Jackson co., AL at least by 1819. Vincent Stanphill m Anna Gocher, d/o William. David Stanfield's wife Elizabeth "Betsy" was a founding member of Mud Creek Baptist Church of Christ (Primitive Baptist), with the assistance of Rev. Henry Gotcher formerly of Franklin co, TN who died in Chattanooga, TN. David & Betsy and/or their descendants (missing 1840 USC)removed to Colbert co, AL - just north of Russellville/Franklin co, AL. I don't know the connection between William Gocher and Henry Gotcher - or your Stanphill & our Stan... but sending your post to a couple of others. We will see. In the meantime, got dates?
