Pat -

I have your ancestor identified in one of my Stanfield databases. Nancy Jane Stanfield, (b.23 Nov 1835, Wayne co,TN; d. 3 Dec 1886, Wayne co,TN); dau of James William Stanfield (b.13 Feb 1813, GA; d. Sep 1851, Wayne co,TN) & Elizabeth Helton (b.ca.1817, TN; d. Jul 1851, Wayne co,TN). I show that her parentage was derived from the Michael A Woody database. This has been confirmed by a finding in Census of 1850, 8th Civil Dist, Wayne co,TN; #824 (AH,16) shown as Jane, residing with her parents.

John J Woody married her about 1850 in Wayne co,TN. He was b.ca.1829, Wayne co,TN; son of Joseph Woody (b.ca.1805, Orange co,NC; d. date unknown, Azad co,AR) & Mary Cypert (b.ca.1804, NC). This parentage has been confirmed by a finding in Census of 1850, 7th Civil Dist, Wayne co,TN; #905 (AH;Farmer,21), residing with his parents.

This James William Stanfield is believed to be the son of William Stanfield (1787-c1860) & Mary Smith. No direct connection has been shown between this line and the various James Stanphills of Arkansas.
