Stansbury Family Genealogy Forum
I have found an old newspaper clipping from the Oakland Tribune dated Sunday, Nov. 23, 1947 and it reads, "Berkeley, Nov 22 - An old sheepskin family bible that dates back to the days of King James II, contains the history of the Stansburys, pioneer American family, one of whom will celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
James E. Stansbury, 81, and his wife Adelia, 80, were married 60 years ago in Illinois, where Stansbury was the second of a five-generation Illinois family. He was a contractor in the Middle West until he and his wife came to Oakland in 1927.........during the war when manpower was at a minimum, Stansbury, at the age of 78, worked intermittently at the corner grocery store to help alleviate the shortage......... Five children, Morris E., Florence, and Mrs. Paul Hodges of Berkeley; Lisle W. of Richmond; John L., of Oakland; five grandchildren and four grandchildren....."
Maybe it will help someone.....it's very interesting
