Hello, I wanted to point out in my research Detmar & Renske Starnbourgh/Stansbury emigrated from Holland 1658 with only son Tobias Stansbury 6 years old. He was only child however, had 5 sons and 1 girl. Born in 1652 Holland and died 1709 in Baltimore County Maryland. He married Sarah Raven, may have married twice because because of the gap of years of children's birth.
Sarah Raven came to Maryland from Gloucestor County Virginia 1675 and died five year after Tobias, 1714 as wife of Enoch Spinks who administered the estate, turning over to the children their final,"filial" rights" Children of Tobias:
1) Daniel Stansbury born 1678 (twin)
2) Thomas Stansbury born 1678 (twin)
3) Luke Stansbury born 1689 died 1742
4) Tobias Stansbury II born 1691 died 1764
5) Samuel Stansbury, minor when his Father died
6) Tabitha Stansbury, minor when her father died

Samuel Stansbury
Samuel Stansbury was born about 1693, he was still a minor when his father died in 1709, and an adult in 1719 when he received a land grant

Samuel died in April 1783. Statement from his widow in Chancery Case No. 4308

By 20 November, 1719 Samuel Stansbury of Baltimore Co. had a certificate for 100 acres on the south side of the Great Falls of Gunpowder River in Baltimore Co.

Samuel married at least twice. First to unknown and second 24 May, 1777 to Mary Ann Culleson, no children. Nor was she named in his will dated 19 April, 1783.>

Samuel left his will in Baltimore Co. MD. According to researchers who have researched the Samuel Line states "It" The Will have many baffled. Named are sons and daughters who are actually grandchildren or stepchildren. Some relationship not given at all.

He names a grandson, William Welch or his heirs after his mother's decease tract of land called Addistion.

If William Welch dies without heirs the tract of land falls to Solomon Stansbury or his heirs.

John Ensor Stansbury the son of Wm Stansbury the sum of Fifty Pounds.

To my daughter Tabitha Cross, one hundred pounds, to Dela Standfor and Sebedy(Zebedee?) Hicks sum of fifty pounds, To Mathiar Galloy and Ruth Hicks one shilling each, to Polly Stansbury Culston my daughter the sum of twenty pound.

Said John Ensor Stansbury my hole Execcettor. Samuel made his mark in the presence of Benjamin Stansbury.

In Administration Accounts June 1784

Samuel Stansbury
John E. Stansbury, Exect.
Luke Stansbury
Delilah Standiford
E. Stansbury
Solomon Stansbury Ruth S. Culliston
Mary Ann Stansbury (wife) received part of her thirds.

The Culliston named were stepchildren and children of Mary Ann. It appears he did not hold wife, Mary Anne in equal esteem. In the Maryland Journal dated 2 May 1780, he announced that he would not be responsible for any debts of hers and as before stated she was omitted in his will. However, she did get her (widows) thirds in Administration Accounts in June 1784

The Hicks children, Ruth and Zebedee were grandchildren and children of daughter Tabitha who first married a Hicks then a Cross.

Mathair Galloy was probable a son of daughter Bethia who married Aquilla Galloway.

It is thought that Arbella Welch was a daughter of Samuel and her son William would fall heir to the land at her death.

Bethia who married 6 January, 1761 to Aquilla Galloway was not named as she had already received land for love towards his daughter.

Samuel 11 had died by the time the will was written, and it is believed that Luke, Solomon and Elizabeth named in the Administration Accounts were children of Samuel Jr. Samuel and most of his children migrated to North Carolina in 1778. However, it appears that Benjamin who was named as a witness to the signing of the will and gave oath at proving of the same, appears to be a son of Samuel's and remained in Maryland with his grandfather.

Children of Samuel and his first wife were:

1. Solomon married 1743 Hanna Hicks and died 1747
2. Samuel 11 born about 1725 died between Aug-Sept 1778
3. Tabitha married (1) William Hicks 24 December, 1747 and (2) Richard Cross, 1 January, 1761
4. Delia married a Mr. Standford 5. Arabella married William Welch, died after 1783
6. Ruth married 22 October, 1751 Laban Hogg
7. Bethia married 6 January, 1761 Aquilla Galloway, died after 1783

Finally, I know of no George in the Detmar Renske Stansbury family. Unless Tobias II born 1691 had a son George Stansbury. I do not know of any George you claim kin to from Son of Detmar.
