William Henry Stansbury was born 12th November 1873 in the parish of Dreghorn in the county of Ayr, Scotland. His father was also William Henry and his mother Mary Jane Stansbury, whose maiden name was Carbin. The father's occupation was a coal miner. They were married in Tavistock in the county of Devon, England on 1st January 1870. The records in Scotland spell Henry as Henery, probably due to the Vicar misunderstanding a Devon accent and it is unlikely that William or Mary Jane could read or write. Many Devon tin miners moved to Scotland to find a better life coal mining and finished up emigrating. I hope this helps.
