Joseph Akin sold land to John Stapp in Campbell County, Virginia:
Campbell Co., VA Deed Book 1784-1790, p. 269: April 4, 1788, from Joseph Akin of Campbell, to John Stapp of Campbell, for 30 pounds, about 100 acres, part of a tract patented to Joseph for 260 in Campbell on School House Branch. Signed by Joseph. Anne, the wife of Joseph, relinquished her claim of dower to the land and premises conveyed.
Now, Joseph Akin was the father of Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Akin, who married Charles PUCKETT in Campbell County, VA in 1801. Charles' mother was Elizabeth RICE Puckett, sister of Abraham RICE Sr.
In 1802, Adair County, Kentucky, an Elizabeth STAPP married Abraham Rice JR. son of Abraham Rice Sr. and Patsy Hill! There was a John Stapp in Adair County about that time, if I recall. Do you have anything that might connect and confirm that these Stapp families in Campbell Co. Va and Adair County, KY are the same???
Thanks
Will
