Starbuck Family from Nantucket Island
Can any of you kind folks help me?My husband and I own an inn on Nantucket Island, and there's a wealth of genealogical information at our Nantucket Historical Society and the town library as you probably know.I am very into genealogy researching my ancestors from Scotland and Sweden who all emigrated elsewhere here in Massachusetts, but am always envious when I go to the genealogy section and the library and see what's available for old Nantucket families! My Robert YOUNG emigrated from Scotland to MA in 1734.My Swedish ancestors didn't emigrate until 1890.
Anyway, I want to offer some sort of "midweek special" during Quiet Season at the Inn, and can't find a place on the 'Net to post such an offering. Thus far, I haven't even been able to find family associations! We often have Coffin and Swain members stay with us, particularly since our house was once the Swain Boardinghouse! But, I think my idea would be fun because I am so "hooked" on genealogy and spend an extraordinary time doing it.We're from Hingham, MA, which is near Plymouth:Last fall, I found a "Mayflower Connection" to Stephen Hopkins, so I'm now trying to get everything together to join the Mayflower Society. We go back to the Island in April, so I have to move fast!
Enjoy your research, and if you have any ideas on who I can contact, my email address is [email protected].
Happy Hunting,
Sheila Young Heap
