In a book contained in the Muncie (Indiana) Public Library -Geneology Division- Titled: "Gold Star HOnor Roll 1914 - 1918 Indiana" published by the Indiana Historical Commission in Indianapolis 1921:

STARBUCK, THOMAS KERR - - - Private
Son of William Henry and Ellen Kerr Starbuch; born December 21, 1893, Chicago, Ill. Moved to Union City, Ind. in 1907. Laborer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army June 1914, Muncie, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to Troop B, 17th U.S. Cavalry. Served three years in Philippines. Returned to Camp Harry Jones, Ariz. Died of pneumonia, March 2, 1919, Camp Harry Jones, Ariz. Buried, Union City, Ind.
