I rmember my Dad telling me that we had a family member who was hanged for horse thieving. He was somehow related to the Starbuck family. His name was Hugh Morris, but I can find little else about him.
His daughter (my great-grandmother) was raised by Elihu and Celia Starbudk in Deep River, Guildor, NC. I found that in the 1880 census. But, I have no idea of her mother's name or what actually happened to Hugh.
My great-grandfather and the family all lived in Atlanta, Indiana. So, how she got there is a mystery also.
If you should happen to find out anything else about the James gand, I would like to hear about it if you could drop me a note.
Thank you.
