The 1930 Federal census for Newell Township, City of Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois has this James W. Stateler listed with his second wife and two of her sons. They were Maude (Perry/Shelby) Stateler and his two step-sons, Ralph and Paul Shelby. This census lists James William Stateler as 44 years of age and born in Illinois. His father was born in Ohio and his mother in Illinois. He was working in a grocery store.
