I have some material on this family but have never found anyone else researching it.

The 1860 census Champaign County has this household:
Mary Stateler 46 b. OH
Sarah " 27 b. OH
James " 12 b. IN
Emma " 22 b. OH
David Waters 29 b. PA
Eliza Waters 24 b. OH

All I found in Indiana in 1850 Warren County, Wash. Twp
were Sarah 18 living with Livi Bonebrake and family
Eliza age 17 with John M. Dickerson

I found marriages in the Illinois index:
Minerva to Asa Nichols 1852
Eliza to David Waters 1860
Emma to Merritt Busey 1861
Amanda to Granvill Busey 1857
Harriet to Thomas McCauley 1856
James Statelar to Matilda Kerr 1867

In 1880 Sarah Stateler was in Tolono, Cham. Co.
with her sister Minerva Nichols and Minerva's son John.

So my guess would be Mary's husband died before 1850 and the family split up in western Indiana and reunited in Champaign County IL by 1860. The only possiblity I have for Mary's husband would be Andrew Stateler of Delware County Ohio 1840 there were 2 young males and 5 young female in the housahold at that time.
