John Steed refered to as "Capt" was son of Peter Steed born 1720. And documented as such
There is alot of mis imformation going about trying to link
another :John: as the Capt.
For claification on the correct John I may refer you to Jean Glass, our family historian. Whom has done excellent research on this manner.
My info on "John" son of Peter was good enough to be admitted to S.A.R. So I would render the documentation is highly correct.

I read the files you sent me Joe sometime back, and must admit I see no direct connection to your side of family to John son of Peter.
Please note there were two distinct Steed lines in early america and not related as thay came from diffrent areas

In reviewing your files I see you have linked Steed back to England to Sir William Stede.By using some of our Steed line.
At this point there is no documentation past Peter {1} born 1720 in NJ.
I conferred with Steed One Study in england on this manner
Although I run across some info on Peters father which may link him directly back to England. It is not at this time documented. And he does not link back to Sir Williams line.
I have extensive looked into your info on your steed findings. Im apalled that my Grandmother is not listed as she was a Steed, Im sure she is a bit muffed about it also.
What I am seeing is two Steed lines, that are trying to be brought into one. via John connection. My G grand mother is not listed in your files also.
Could you futher enlighten me as to your direct connection to John son of Peter whom was the Capt in revolution war?
Im highly confused on the direct connections as are others
