Joe
I sent you the Library of Congress records myself.
the link to said 11th reg was for John son of Peter{1}
and so listed in muster rolls in 11th as Capt it is not to John Stead or Steed born 1715
As Ive prior said there are two Steed/ Stead lines
not connected to each other {non documentated}and not proven
John {son of peter} also had pre revolution Army service
era 1765-there abouts. My S.A.R membership is based on John son of Peter and promoted Captain and so noted on muster rolls as volunteer service
The other "Capt Steed" as noted in files I sent you from DAR
lists the John as being born 1715
Therefore no way connected to John son of Peter and
Peters line has no England links {as of yet} Although John cira 1715 could be brother to Peter{1}as Peter was born 1720
In reality there were 3 john Steeds in War service
1 with Indian War service.
If you research the Library of Congress site link I sent you, you will see clearly the diffrent regiments the Steeds were in.
Whats being dealt with is two totally different steed lines
With some trying to merge them into one. To do that one has to get past Peter Steed {1}before a connection can be made.
As Ive said the DAR corrected their files on John son of peter and his wife and Closed the "John Steed" line.
Appears someone was reporting the wrong wife of John.
Therefore backed with info fully documented the file was changed and therefore closed on that Line.
I might ad last year i went to Library of Congress myself and also the St Louis Records center researching John and his service
