Steed - Apology

I am rather new at researching my Steed ancestors. I recently went on to this forum, read down the list & clicked on what I thought would be interesting. That is, re: a Kent document -- & requested a copy of same -- only because I remembered my grandmother telling me that the Steeds in our family were originally from England. Thereafter, I was advised by two individuals that my line definitely is not from Kent, but offered help. One did, in fact, help by sending sending documents for me to review.

I only want to verify or find out more about My ancestors. I do not care if they are knights or peasants. Inadvertently, I contributed to an ongoing problem on this forum. And for that I am sorry.

I do understand that those who have documented their history wish to protect their line. However, I must say that I was researching another surname prior to this and never saw any hostility. It was fun! What a shame to find it here. I hope that in the future I can feel free to ask questions. I really would love to learn more about my ancestors.

Thank you.
