I'm beginning to see what the flap was when I stated with such assurance the information I had been given on my husband's STEED line; I still consider myself to be a beginner since I am still collecting information from family history books... to be used as a roadmap only.

My husband's ancestor Elizabeth McCormac STEED born 12 Jan 1874 is the first [going back] to have the Steed name.
I named our first child STEDE after this family and would like to know if this line has actually been proven to go back to Capt John or any of the early STEEDs.
