In Reply to: Gordon Steed by James Steed of 949

Gordon Steed in the 1911 Canadian Census.

Gosfield North, Essex County South, Ontario
Lot 1, Concession 8

Steed, Gordon, Head, married, b. December 1845, age 65, b. Ireland, emigrated 1872, farmer
Steed, Agnes, Wife, married, b. March 1844, age 67, b. Ireland, emigrated 1872
Steed, Bertha, Daughter-in-law, married, b. November 1883, age 27, b. Ontario

I found the birth registration for their son, George Stevenson Steed, b. 15 November 1877, in Colchester South Township, Essex County, Ontario, the son of Gordon Steed, b. County Antrim, Ireland, and Agnes Hendron, also born County Antrim, Ireland. This birth was not registered until 1947 -- the original either being lost or never registered at the time of birth.

Gordon died 18 August 1912 in Colchester Township, aged 66 years, 7 months, 23 days, b. Ireland, the son of John Steed, b. Ireland and Jennie Gordon, also b. Ireland.

If this is the right family, then you have made progress already, but there's alot more work to be done in determining where in County Antrim they were from.

Here's Agnes' death registration:

#12272/25 (Essex Co.) Agnes Steed,of N. Part Lot 1, Concession 8, Gosfield North Township, d. 11 November 1925, b. 9 March 1842 Ireland, lady, daughter of John Hendron & Margaret Thompson, both b. Ireland; informant: George Steed, RR#1, Essex, son; burial: North Ridge Cemetery, Gosfield North

Also, the birth registration for their son, Robert:

#06612/80 (Essex Co.) Robert, b. 15 January 1880, son of Gordon Steed, carpenter, & Agnes Hendron; informant: blank, farmer, Harrow
