Yes, Captain John Steed (c1746-c1800) from Dunmore/Shenandoah County, VA was a son of Peter Steed (c1720-c1780); apparently, the eldest son. I am directly descended from William Steed (c1748-1824) who appears to be the second eldest son.

The above Steed line is not to be confused with John Steed (c1710-1788) from Brunswick County, VA.

As of yet, nobody has found the parents of Peter Steed (c1720-c1780); therefore, linking this line with any other prior to his birth remains premature.
