SAMUEL STEED, NC AND ARK IN THE MID-1800'S
The Samuel I am searching for was born abt. 1859, poss. in Beans District, Montgomery Co., NC. Not with the family until the 1860 Census, there he is listed as 1 year old with parents, Nelson and Mary Steed and siblings; Callier A., Nancy A., Seth, Caloline, George. They are neighbors to Selby Hearne and ife, Nancy. Is this family? Also neighboring is Richard C. Heall and wife, Leah A., with children, Wm. and Jack.
In the previous Census, 1850, neighbors are Leah Steed with who I am assuming is her son, Frederick and his children, Mary and John.
Nelson and Mary Steed came to ARK near the end of the 1800s, going to Independence Co. and ending up in Faulkner/Pulaski Co. areas. Samuel later leaves the family and I am not sure of his location.
I am unclear about how all those neighboring people fit into my family puzzle but would appreciate any help. Thanks.
