Dear Katherine:

It was thought that the Ulrich Steffy that immigrated to Philadelphia in 1727 was the Ulrich Steffy (1710-1760)who is buried in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. It has now been established that these were two separate Ulrichs. The Ulrich who settle in Lebanon was born in Affoltern, Canton Bern, Switzerland. His parents moved to Hoffen, Alsace and he did not migrate until after 1741 to Lebanon. We do not know the exact date for this, but believe that it may have been 1741-1743. I am a descendant of Ulrich through Henry, then John, Sr., John, Henry Kelly, Raymond Richard and then me). He did not have a brother who moved to York County, PA.

The Ulrich found in Montgomery County, Pennslyvania, was born in Germany. He migrated on the ship "William and Sarah" that landed in 1727 in Philadelphia. Hope this helps. Have a great week.

Gerald Steffy
