I'm looking for the parents of Samuel Stephens, who was born in Jefferson County, Ohio in 1810, although it's possible that he was born in Pennsylvania. According to his obituary, he spent his entire life in Jefferson County. I believe he lived in Salem Township for awhile. I only found two possible contenders for fathers: George Stephen and Frederick Steffey.

I couldn't track George Stephen being in the right places at the right times, but Frederick Steffey appeared to be. According to one census, Samuel Stephens said his father was born in France. I assumed the father was possibly from Alsace-Lorraine.

The information you listed looks very exciting and promising to me. Do you have any other children for Frederick, or maybe for another Steffey? I've been floundering for months trying to get some sort of data that would give Samuel Stephens a father.

In later years, a Nancy Stephens lived with the family. I have no idea if that was his mother, elderly aunt, or someone else. I believe Nancy was a nickname for Anna and Hannah, among other names.

I'd love to be able to share more of your information.
