I have advice from a cousin that our Steins are definitely German and not Scottish. Jacob Bender Stein is known to have resided in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. His wife Elizabeth died a number of years before him. He subsequently lived with his son Ervin in Philadelphia and after that Jake got his own place when Ervin and his family moved to the Trenton area. Also determined that there was an upholsterer in the family, but not positive if that was Jacob.
